Also heard as: the dynamic dominum, the Dynamo, the device, soul-storing cylinder, the turbine
A bronze, diamond-shaped artifact built by “a mad scientist” that harvests “just and unjust souls” to grow in power, crosses planes, and reacts unpredictably to strong magical damage. Gained: bank vault, episode 1. Used: triggered a citywide firestorm, episode 4. Lost: never — the party still carries it as of episode 6, now hunted by the TIU.
History
- Named as the heist’s target in the vault, “the dynamic dominum”; glimpsed being hauled toward the bank by giant burrowing creatures 2023-09-12 @ 02:17:01, @ 04:15:29.
- Found in the vault chest as a glowing blue orb, confirmed via Knowledge Arcana to match the mission’s target 2023-10-01 @ 03:59:31–03:59:37.
- Dropped by its doppelganger carrier when killed by Nutty; charged with captured souls from the bank heist, it reacts to Pat’s ongoing fire-spell damage by rolling to “react” and, on a near-maximum result, mirrors the spell across the entire city of Godoy, killing roughly 90% of the population 2023-10-15 @ 00:36:05, @ 00:56:37–00:56:59.
- Examined drained, warm to the touch, one valve open; Ozan’s knowledge-planes check says it exists on another plane as well, and Jess’s follow-up planes/arcana/engineering check (a 30, explicitly “not a natural 20”) confirms it’s crossed planes, likely siphoning souls elsewhere 2023-10-24 @ 00:19:10–00:22:38.
- Hunted by TIU investigators, who identify it as the “Dyson Dynamo” and warn it “could unravel the fabric of reality”; Donnie’s bluff denying any knowledge of it doesn’t sway Thornshade, who marks the party as suspects regardless 2023-11-28 @ 00:37:54–00:40:15.
Unresolved
Whether “the dynamic dominum” (episode 1), “the Dynamo”/“the device” (episodes 2, 4–5), and the “Dyson Dynamo” (episode 6) are definitively the same artifact is implied by plot continuity but never restated explicitly in a single session.
