A kingdom ruled by King Tygard, locked in a long land dispute and eventually open war with the Kingdom of Squiyles. Emerges from the war as one of the world’s rising great powers, having lost very little military strength while Squiyles collapsed entirely.

History

  • King Tygard meets King Stroth of Squiyles for the kingdoms’ annual alliance/trade negotiations; Stroth loses his temper and dangles Tygard out a third-story window, and both parties leave hurling threats of war 2019-04-15.
  • Binneth’s Royal-Elites capture an orc scout on Binneth soil — the first sign of the orcish invasion (previously confined to Squiyles) reaching Binneth land — and recover a magical sending stone from him; they return him to Beisfjord to present to Captain Vakrum 2019-04-29.
  • Gorthak’s forces wipe out an entire Binneth scouting party, sparing and mutilating one scout to carry a demand back to Beisfjord for the return of the orc prisoner Zakmed; the Binneth king issues no public statement 2019-06-10.
  • Zakmed — confirmed via confiscated sending stones to be Gorthak’s son — escapes Binneth custody; the crown offers a reward for his re-capture 2019-06-17.
  • Reportedly hires seafaring mercenaries and fields a “secret weapon” fleet of fire-breathing ships, which destroys nearly half of Squiyles’ navy in a night battle in the Howling Gulf 2019-06-10, 2019-06-17.
  • Post-war, claims new territory north of its border without further conflict, lifts its trade blockade into the Howling Gulf, and strikes new trade deals (including the potato markets) with former Squiylian trading partners; the Gazette’s economists call Binneth a rising world power 2019-10-07.
  • Part of eastern Binneth is later swallowed by the spreading miasmic death cloud emanating from Sawyen and Suenth 2020-04-13.
  • Royal Astronomer Hammond Hardle observes the last visible star go dark from Binneth’s royal observatory moments before evacuating through a Feywild gate — part of the “Day Zero” anomaly (see timeline) 2019-05-12.

Unresolved

The 2019-05-12 issue, dated APRIL 17 4900 rather than 4885, describes the Material Plane itself apparently ceasing to exist and Binneth’s royal observatory evacuating to the Feywild. The very next issue in sequence reverts to 4885 and continues the ongoing war as if nothing happened — the paper never references the 4900 events again. Treated as a flagged paradox/alternate-future branch, not a confirmed part of Binneth’s history. See timeline.
