Also heard as: Luterol, Laduriel, Liduriel, Kalooza
A city built into a mountain face in a half-oval shape with a waterfall through the wall, multicultural and class-divided, home to the annual Magic Carpet Race (called the Rug Mandela in episode 6). Reached by the party roughly twelve hours’ flight (or 2.5 days’ march) from Godoy.
History
- Chosen as the party’s refugee destination over Ukendafar and Olingad; reached ahead of the refugee column via flight; built in a half-oval against a mountain wall with a waterfall down it 2023-10-24 @ 00:26:13–01:17:11, @ 01:21:36.
- Gate guards share a sigil with Cadillac’s mage group, tying his faction to the city @ 01:25:59.
- The party registers for the Magic Carpet Race (ticket #7, 50,000 gp prize) and falls out with carpet sponsor Greg @ 02:28:58–02:53:46.
- As “Liduriel”/“Kalooza”: the rug-shop/Greg conflict continues directly from the prior session; the party learns the race (now called the Rug Mandela, 20,000 gold winner-take-all) starts the next morning 2023-11-28 @ 00:12:38, @ 02:06:28, @ 01:33:40.
Unresolved
The city’s name changes between “Lutathal” (episode 5) and “Liduriel”/“Kalooza” (episode 6), and the race’s name and prize amount also change (Magic Carpet Race/50,000 gp vs. Rug Mandela/20,000 gp); no session explicitly confirms these are the same event, though the carried-over Greg/rug-shop conflict strongly implies the same city.
A third variant appears in Rugby’s Roaming Gazette: the “Rugmandella” race, grand prize a magic carpet also called the “Rugmandella” (made by Carpet Baggers Industries), starting in Lauvog, Western Territories, rather than Lutathal/Liduriel/Kalooza 2023-09-24. One more data point in the naming inconsistency, not a resolution.
